Class Schedules and Descriptions

As this event celebrates the Arts and Sciences in the Middle Kingdom, we would like to celebrate the arts and encourage classes to be taught and taken at this event! Please contact the Class Coordinator so that we can accommodate your class into our event’s schedule.

10am - noon

“Commedia dell' Arte”
             Taught by: Lord Edward Foxley
This class will focus on a variety of Commedia topics: an Introduction class, a
 Practical Class, and some History.

10am - 11 am

“Late 15th Century German Clothing”

Taught by: Lady Fredeburg von Katzenellenbogen
This class will focus mostly on Southern German and the clothing seen
in the artwork by The Master of the Housebook, Albrecht Duerer, and
their contemporaries.  Artwork and modern re-creations will be used to
consider the styles and their possible evolution.  Discussion will be
encouraged to ponder some of the uncertainties remaining for re-creation.

11am - noon

“Fibers and Basic Drop Spinning”

Taught by: Lady Allegra Ginevra Soave da Napoli
Come see and feel a variety of natural fibers, and stay to learn how to spin wool
on a drop spindle. No charge to learn, $5 if you want to buy a drop spindle and
some fiber to take home with you.  (Drop spindles are made of recycled CDs.)
No limit for the fibers part, but I only have 3 or 4 spindles available for
practice/purchase.  I invite other fiber artisans to stop in and show what they
do or are working on.

2pm - 4pm
“Basics of Arrow Making”
Taught by: Lord David the Elder
This class will be a beginner’s guide to making your own arrows for archery.
Topics to be covered will include shaft selection and finishing, fletching types
and various tools used in the process of fletching, point selection and the
attachment to shafts. After the class there will be workshop time, and flexible
time to come in for arrow-related consultation.
