Class Schedules and Descriptions
As this event celebrates the Arts and Sciences in the Middle Kingdom, we would like to celebrate the arts and encourage classes to be taught and taken at this event! Please contact the Class Coordinator so that we can accommodate your class into our event’s schedule.
10am - noon “Commedia dell' Arte” Taught by: Lord Edward FoxleyThis class will focus on a variety of Commedia topics: an Introduction class, a Practical Class, and some History.
10am - 11 am “Late 15th Century German Clothing” Taught by: Lady Fredeburg von KatzenellenbogenThis class will focus mostly on Southern German and the clothing seenin the artwork by The Master of the Housebook, Albrecht Duerer, andtheir contemporaries. Artwork and modern re-creations will be used toconsider the styles and their possible evolution. Discussion will beencouraged to ponder some of the uncertainties remaining for re-creation. 11am - noon “Fibers and Basic Drop Spinning” Taught by: Lady Allegra Ginevra Soave da NapoliCome see and feel a variety of natural fibers, and stay to learn how to spin wool on a drop spindle. No charge to learn, $5 if you want to buy a drop spindle and some fiber to take home with you. (Drop spindles are made of recycled CDs.) No limit for the fibers part, but I only have 3 or 4 spindles available for practice/purchase. I invite other fiber artisans to stop in and show what they do or are working on. 2pm - 4pm“Basics of Arrow Making” Taught by: Lord David the ElderThis class will be a beginner’s guide to making your own arrows for archery. Topics to be covered will include shaft selection and finishing, fletching types and various tools used in the process of fletching, point selection and the attachment to shafts. After the class there will be workshop time, and flexible time to come in for arrow-related consultation. |
